Meet Dr. John P. Monahan PT, DPT

Dr. John P. Monahan PT, DPT

Quality Care Physical Therapy, Inc. was founded by Dr. John P. Monahan, PT, DPT in September 2001. Dr. Monahan is a native of Bothell, Washington, and graduated from Bothell High School in 1988. He is an active member of the Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce and a board member for the Northshore YMCA.

Dr. Monahan was initially influenced by his parents. His mother, a registered nurse on the orthopedic floor at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, and his father, a family practice physician who has practiced for over 40 years in Bothell. While traveling through Europe, Dr. Monahan met a Danish Physical Therapist who inspired him to follow his profession.

Dr. Monahan says, "I grew up in a healing, altruistic, compassionate environment. I spent my childhood going on various house calls with my father, learning how to care for people in need. My parents are truly a gift to me that I will always be thankful for."

Education

  • Washington State University: Bachelor's degree in Biology, with a Minor in Psychology. (1994)
  • Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School: Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. (1997)
  • Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science: Post-professional Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy to make second Physical Therapy degree. (2006)

Dr. Monahan authored chapter 22 "The Ankle and Foot" in the text book: Therapeutic Exercise: Moving Toward Function, Second Edition in 2004. Dr. Monahan gained an expanded knowledge in Physical Therapy research and techniques in writing this chapter over an 18 month process.

Dr. Monahan is committed to lifelong learning. "The more I know, the better I can help my patients. The human body is the world's most complex machine." This commitment to continued education will provide quality care and excellence to each of his patients.

John enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and many outdoor sports, including golf, tennis, skiing, fly fishing, and hiking.


Anna Harness, MSPT

Anna Harness, MSPT

Anna is a native of western Washington and grew up in Olympia. Her interest in physical therapy was influenced by her participation in sports and desire to help people recover to return to activities they love. In college, Anna competed on the varsity crew and ski team. Anna has worked in outpatient orthopedic clinics since 1994 and with QCPT since 2005. She specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation, spine therapy, SI joint dysfunction, manual therapy and muscle activation techniques and biomechanics.

Education:

  • Pacific Lutheran University: Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (pre-physical therapy) with a Biology and Health minor (1990)
  • Columbia University: Master of Science in Physical Therapy (1994)

In her free time, Anna enjoys spending time with her family and friends doing a variety of outdoor activities including snow skiing, biking, water sports and walking her German Shepherd. She is also an active swim team mom and can be found at local pools all year long.


Kevin Piasecki, MSPT, OCS

Kevin Piasecki

Kevin grew up in Connecticut, moved to New York City in 1992, and then relocated to Seattle in 1999. He has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1994.

Education:

  • College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA): BA in Psychology (1991)
  • Columbia University (New York, NY): MS in Physical Therapy (1994)
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (1999)
  • Orthopedic Clinic Specialist Certification (2007 and 2017)

Kevin has been practicing since 1994. He joined Quality Care Physical Therapy in 2007. Kevin has experience treating all types of musculoskeletal problems. His approach to rehabilitation is a combination of hands-on treatment and exercise, with a particular focus on biomechanics, posture, core stability, and patient education.

Kevin looks forward to helping his patients become pain-free and maximize their health and fitness potentials. "Physical Therapy offers a lot of health and wellness benefits for both athletes and non-athletes. Everyone can benefit from improving their ability to move with appropriate strength, posture, and efficiency. Feeling good and being fit are important keys to achieving our wellness goals and enjoying our lives. Physical Therapy offers a lot of tools and education to help clients meet these objectives. Additionally, Physical Therapy can often help us to find relief from the many things that cause us to have pain and that limit our ability to be active."

On the weekends, Kevin enjoys spending quality time with his wife and dog, Luna. Their interests include hiking, camping, rock climbing, mountaineering, cycling, mountain biking, snow sports, and spending time in the Methow Valley.


Sandra Chard, PT, ATC

Sandra Chard, PT, ATC

Sandy's interest in heath, anatomy and sports inspired her to start working as a student athletic trainer at Pacific Lutheran University. This experience eventually lead her down the path to a career in Physical Therapy. Sandy's past work history also includes several years in clinic management and company operations.

Sandy's approach to rehabilitation involves all aspects of therapy with a particular focus on exercise and education on self-management strategies. She enjoys being able to help her patients reach their therapy goals and maintain an active lifestyle.

Sandy specializes in the treatment of orthopedic disorders. She has additional training in the following:

Carolyn Holt, PTA

Carolyn Holt, PTA

Carolyn grew up in Tacoma and was active in sports and outdoor recreation from an early age. She participated in competitive volleyball through college and continued coaching at the high school level post graduation. Love of fitness continued as she became a certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor. Seeing clients improve their quality of life as they achieved greater wellness goals inspired her to return to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant.

When not working, Carolyn enjoys hiking, biking, fly fishing, skiing, and traveling.


Dr. Maxine Shih Pt, DPT

Maxine is inspired to help individuals regain their physical function, alleviate pain, and optimize their overall well-being practicing as a physical therapist. Her interests in health, movement science, and exercise science led her to move to the United States from Taiwan and pursue her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in California.

Maxine enjoys helping people and believes in seeing patients as a whole, empowering them by educating the condition, providing self-management techniques, and offering ongoing guidance for long-term success.

Denise grew up in a small town in eastern Washington and has always had a passion for helping others. She lives with her husband in Bothell and enjoys gardening, cooking and visiting home to see her family.

Carla Halazon

Carla has lived in the Bothell area since 1966, and has been with Quality Care since 2008. Her free time is spent traveling with her husband of 43 years, gardening, and outings with her three grandchildren.
